Just Above the Surface is a painting about the fear that you can try your best and still fail. It depicts a man trying his best to stay afloat yet still drowning in the air. It symbolises the fear that you can be doing everything you think to be right and still be unhappy (acrylic on canvas 100 x 120 cm).

Sorry for the Mess is about feeling like your emotions are a burden to others. It depicts someone bleeding and apologising for the mess that it will cause the people around them without acknowledging the importance of their own pain (acrylic on canvas 60 x 60 cm).

Untitled (August) is a painting about cherishing the little moments in life and how small events can create a lasting effect on a person (acrylic on canvas 30cm diameter, SOLD).

Any Day Now is intended to show the feeling of being stuck, wishing for change. It expresses the feeling of stagnation and watching as the petals start to fall around you and the seasons change, yet you are still in the same place. The painting depicts a tired arm reaching for something more (acrylic on canvas 40 x 60 cm).

Untitled (June) is a painting about the experience of overwhelm and the difficulties sensory issues can create that feel immobilising (acrylic on canvas
40 x 70 cm).

Untitled (May) represents the fear that comes along with having overwhelming emotions. It's intended to show the stress of feeling ambushed by emotions you don't know how to handle (acrylic on MDF 30 x 30 cm).

Spectrum of Colour

This collection of work explores the interaction between the observer and the observed. The paintings are a deep dive into our internal experience and how our emotions can colour our worldview, changing our perceived external environment. The video on the other hand looks at the opposite side of this, exploring the external experience and how the environment we are in builds an integral part of who we are and the feelings we experience day to day.

Awakening

These artworks were all created around the same time after a long winter with no painting because of the cold. In January 2023 I got heating installed in my studio! This is when I first started experimenting with combining both abstract expressive backgrounds with representational imagery. During this period, I created my first large paintings and started to find my feet as an artist.

Face the Wall (acrylic on canvas 20 x 30 cm, SOLD).

Obstruction (acrylic on recycled cotton bedsheets 130 x 180 cm).

Always Yourself (acrylic on recycled cotton bedsheets 130 x 180 cm, SOLD).
